    lifelongfriend.WithoutSanshemaynothavebecomesucharecognizedcomposer.
    Hemarriedin1883andspentmostofhisyearsteachingandservingasachoirmaster.
    Hecomposedmusicduringhissummerholidays.In1903Faurrealizedthathewas
    losinghishearingandbecomingtonedeaf.Forthelasttownyearsofhislife,Faurwas
    completelydeaf.

    goodhealth.Despitethat,hecontinuedtoteachyoungcomposersafterretiringfrom
    TheConservatoire.In1922hewasawardedtheGrandeCroixoftheLgiond'Honneur.
    InthesameyearhewasgivenanationalcelebrationandtributeattheUniversityofthe
    SorbonneinParisbeforehediedinNovemberof1924.
