English I Final Exam Study Guide

Vocabulary will definitely be on the exam. Study any vocabulary terms that we have discussed in class.
Ive included most of the words you should know on this paper. Keep in mind you should not only know
the definition of the words but how to apply them as well (if applicable).
The exam will include the key grammatical concepts that we have covered. This includes:
o Subject-Verb Agreement
o Types of Sentences (simple, compound, complex, compound-complex)
o Fragments, Run-ons, and Comma Splices.
You will be expected to read passages and answer questions based on the passages. This is where the
vocabulary will be extremely important.
You should be familiar with rhetorical strategies and analyzing them in the essay. Some of these are
included in the vocabulary, but not necessarily all of them. Be sure to look over the rhetorical strategies
list that is in your notebook.
The test will most likely be between 30-50 questions and will primarily consist of reading passages that
are followed by multiple choice questions.
