India's health sector has always posed major challenges to poliey makers raising demand for increased budzetary spending every ‘your to make it commensurate with desired results in terms of a bealthy nation. And, itis an accepted fac: by experts that there is a strong relationship between economic growth and better heulth it being ‘two way relationship. A population with tnajor health problems eaunot becorne part of the Nations fgrowth process, On the other hand, a nation beset by health problems ean have a retarding effect on the country’s development goals. Both the Millennium Development Goals and later the new set of Sustainable Development Goals hhad appreciated tis fact and integrated Health Goals into their agenda. dia, asa signatory tothe SDGs needs now to gear up is policies and work out its health priorities to uchieve those targets. Equally importancly, it needs to work towards greater cohesiveness in integrating its policies and actions in the hnealth sector to its developmental programmes in other sectors. ‘Our policy makers hed appreciated this fact and launched several health programmoes witich have ‘been immense!y successful over the years. The government would, of course, have to put in place a Teeulalory system to ensure that publicly financed health insurance offers sufficient financial protection and access to health care, The (att Health Policy 2015 as tried to reetfy some of the lacunae in earlier policies by firstly purting it on public domain for feedback and flso indersuanding the change of context for health cae in various sectors.
