RE: Recommendation of Amy Ayers
Please allow this leter to serve as my highest recommendation of Amy Ayers for employment
with your school.
Amy Ayers has worked with the Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office since March 31, 2008. At the
time of her initial employment I was the elected Solicitor for the Fifteenth Circuit and I hired her
to serve the citizens of Horry County as a victim advocate. In that role her responsibilities
included working with victims of crime and helping them through the complex vagaries of the
criminal court system.
Amy grasped a difficult and complex job very quickly. She mastered the legal terms and the
‘overall workings of the legal system, and most importantly demonstrated a superior ability to
‘communicate with law enforcement, lawyers and particularly victims. This is significant because
in the criminal justice system we must meet our vietims where we find them. They are a diverse
‘group that has suffered crime and its aftermath. They are often highly emotional and many times
direct that emotion at whoever is available,
In late 2008 our office formed a special criminal sexual conduct and child abuse prosecution
unit. Victims of criminal sexual conduct and child victims are the most sensitive and challenging
victims we work with in the prosecutor's office. Because of her outstanding ability and her
‘genuine concern for those she serves, Amy Ayers was promoted to Victim Advocate for this
special unit upon its formation. Amy has done an excellent job in a very difficult role and she has
done a great service for the Fifteenth Circuit Solicitors Office and the citizens of Horry County.
As to her general qualifications as an employee, Amy was prompt, knowledgeable, stayed ahead
oon her paperwork and worked well with the team. Most importantly, Amy Ayers is a person of
integrity that can be trusted with the most important and sensitive of tasks.
Although I left the Solicitors Office in December 2012 to assume my new responsibilities in the
South Carolina Senate, I am available to discuss Ms. Ayers’ employment with my former office
and encourage you to contact me at 843-222-1001 if I may provide additional information.
Sincerely,
2 Day LC
J. Gregory Ffembree, Senator
Horry and Dillon Counties
