AFFIDAVIT

I, Smti Mithu Sen, wife of Sri Bulon Sen, resident of Meherpur P. S. Silchar,
Cachar, Assam, aged about 44 yrs by religion Hindu and by profession social
activist, solemnly affirm and state as follows:
1. That I work as a social activist voluntarily involving rights of women and
children.
2. That I heard about the harassment of Sharmista Das, daughter of Lt.
Rishikesh Dutta, resident of Narsing Road, Shibam Apartment Ground,
Ambicapatty, P.S. - Silchar, Cachar, Assam and I offered help.
3. That I met Mr. S. K. Chauhan, officer in-charge of Silchar Police Station on
17-03-2010 to know about the progress of the cases filed by Sharmista Das
bearing Silchar police station Case No. 509/10 and Case No. 155 M/2010.
The Officer in-charge put pressure on me to pay him Rs 3000.00 (three
thousand) only and I made the payment on behalf of Sharmista Das, who
was with me at the time.
4. That I was also forced by S. I. Narayan Tamuli, I/O. of the case No.
509/10, to pay him Rs. 20,000.00 (twenty thousand) only later that day. I
made the payment before Sharmista Das in the police station.
5. That I along with Sharmista Das and another social activist Smti Aleya
Islam Laskar visited the police station at 12 noon on 20/3/2010 to know
about the progress of the investigation. Then S. I. Naryan Tamuli
demanded another sum of Rs. 50,000.00 (fifty thousand) only from us.
6. That the officer-in-charge S.K Chauhan abused and threatened us with dire
consequence and forcibly kept us in detention for about two hours in
order to make us obliged to pay the amount demanded by S. I. Narayan
Tamuli.
7. That I made the statements above with sole intention to meet the ends of
justice.
VARIFICATION
 I, Smti Mithu Sen do hereby verify that the statement made in Para 1 to 6,
both inclusive, true to the best of my knowledge and belief. I solemnly affirm
and state that I made these statements in full knowledge, consciousness and
sound mind. No material facts have been concealed.
