I have been Pedro's School Counselor at Century High School for the past 19 months. Pedro has been a wonderful student to have on my caseload. He is very polite and respectful. He is finding his voice and becoming a strong self-advocate. He maintains good relationships both with his peers and with teachers. He is mindful of other’s time and effort. He always presents as very appreciative when someone helps him. He asks for help when needed and uses the resources provided to help himself be more successful He has well developed time management skills, which helps him balance a full course load and other activities, such as, Health Service Club and volunteering. He has had vast experiences with working with people. He has volunteered as a teacher aide, Cedar Sinai Park, SOLVE Beach Clean-Up, assisting at hearing screenings, and as a 6" grade Science Student Teacher at a local elementary school. Pedro also participates in TRiO at our high school, which focuses on success for higher education. He is striving for a long-term goal of attending college. Pedro possesses solid academic skills, which have continuously enabled him to perform at an above average level while taking a high rigor of courses. He has tackled classes from Advanced, ‘Accelerated, Honors, to Advanced Placement over his educational career. Pedro has the desire and motivation to be successful, but he also has faced obstacles. Despite outside stressors, Pedro has displayed true determination and continued to perform well at school and keep a positive attitude and outlook. Pedro describes these as his positive attributes: can work well within teams, positive attitude, and is a quick learner. I would agree that he has a very positive can-do attitude and is not afraid of change. I know Pedro isa flexible and optimistic student/person, who easily adapts to change and thrives on being challenged, Based on his performance in and out of the classroom, I have no hesitations in recommending Pedro.
