Procedure for landing gear retraction check

Landing gear check is a maintenance procedure usually done at C checks or higher or after
replacement of components related to the landing gear actuation system.
Jacking procedure can be found in AMM chapter 7.
Before starting any procedure one has to make the working area safe for himself and others,
also to prevent unwanted damage to the aircraft. This by open and tag CB and install warning
notices in the cockpit that tell others not to operate systems. One must obey all precautions.
Make sure that aircraft centre of gravity is balanced. Moreover aircraft must be stable at all
time during the operation.
Make sure the aircraft surroundings are clear.
It`s also important that NLG selector switch is off, passenger`s doors support cable is
installed, chocks removed and parking breaks off.
Jacking outside a hanger is permissible if wind is not more than 23 MPH and aircraft facing
wind direction. Continually monitor wind changes. No engine trust from other aircraft in near
proximate.
NLG ballast is installed if necessary for correct centre of gravity.
