Dear Parents and Guardians,

Our school has purchased a license for students to use IXL, an online math
program that allows them to practice the skills they are learning in math organized
by SOL. Students will have the opportunity to work with the program at school and
can access it at home as long as they have internet access. Beginning next week,
students will receive a homework grade for the use of IXL at home. Those students
who do not have internet access at home will be given an extra opportunity to
practice here at school. The expectation is that students will use IXL a minimum of
30 minutes each week. This can be split over multiple days or completed all at
once.
Each week, I get a report showing who has used IXL and what topics they
have worked on as well as how much time they spent. If you do not have
internet access at home, please indicate that below and have your child
return the bottom portion of the form to me by Friday, August 28, so that I
may set up a time for them to work on it here at school.
I have attached the letter explaining how to log on to IXL. Below is a list of
the SOLs we will be covering this nine weeks. Students should work on the specific
SOLs that correlate with the week that we are in. The goal is to master each SOL
that they work on. Mastery means they have earned 100 points and received a
medal in each skill set for each SOL they work on in the program.
