Planning a Book Trailer

1. Identify the audience for your book trailer. Who are you designing this for?
The audience is 7th grade life science students.
Learner Analysis:
a. Age/Gender: 10-14
b. Cultural Background: African American At-Risk Students
c. Educational Level: Middle Grades 4-7
d. Special Needs/Accommodations: N/A
e. Specific Entry Skills: Student have to know how to examine the dependence of
organisms on one another and their environments. Categorize
relationships between organisms that are competitive or mutually
beneficial. (S7L4.d)
f. Motivation Kellers ARCS Model (How will you design your book trailer to get
the attention of your audience?)
Attention Start with a question about the relationship that students have with
the family, friends, or even teachers.
Relevance The speaker will have students understand the relationship are give and
take. Students will have to know if the type of relationship they build in their
everyday life. They will have to compare and contrast real world situations to
mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism.
Confidence Students will keep a journal of their relationship and will analyze
them.
Satisfaction Students will be able to share their relationship and based on what
type of symbiotic relationship will have to come up with a plan to make it a
mutual relationship.
