Best Answer: -First, we must know the geological conditions in General in which the bridge was
plan.
-do the analysis in geology and morphology of the location of the bridge plan. If potentially
dangerous then you can propose that bridge location shifted
-do a series of engineering geological investigation in place of abutmen and the pillars of the bridge
plan.
for example, by conducting a drilling core test accompanied with SPT any interval of 1.5 meters. Do
retrieval sample UDS on each change of soil layers to do investigations in the laboratory.
-Based on the results of the engineering geology investigation you could recommend the type and
dimensions of the Foundation of the bridge to be made.

Geology is important because a bridge is affected by its geological location. What i mean is where
does this bridge sit on earth.
If its geological loaction is poor, for example high amouts of landslide, seismic activity, flooding ect.
the bridge would have to be built to whistand the problems that the area provide.
It is a geologist's job or an engineering geologist rather because bridge construction involves
engineering, to recognise the geological affects that the bridge is going to meet, both negative and
positive. Analyse and make recommendations to it. So if it is not done right the bridge is not going to
be reliable, or strong enough to meet its requirements.

Overall, without geologists most bridges wouldnt be staying up high and mighty for us to be crossing
today.
