May 2016
As mentioned in our last newsletter this is the Grimms 50th year and our events calendar is even
busier than usual, no less than 4 shows to celebrate! Youve already seen the first one Stepping
Out The Musical. Iff you didnt see it, you missed a treat, especially as we broke new ground: not
only did the cast tap dance but we ran our own bar at the Desborough very successfully, all thanks to
Terry Walsby and his friends. And the NODA Report was excellent too!
Now for news about the next 3 items on our calendar

We have been extremely fortunate in being given the opportunity once again to use the wonderful
facilities of Taplow Court to present a special Concert, as part of our 50th year celebrations
celebrations. We
shall be raising funds for Thames Hospice as well as Nordoff Robbins, a music therapy charity, the
latter in memory of Bryony Hollands who supported this cause. She was an ex Cox Green student, a
popular and talented musician and actress who
ho performed with several local societies
societies, and was
shockingly killed by a drunk driver last year.

Tim Brooke-Taylor has kindly agreed to compre and the joint music directors, Pippa Eden and
Bridget Biggar, will be in charge, their batons at the ready. As usual, singers from other societies will
join us in performing some old favourites and exciting little-heard classics, with extracts from The
Gondoliers, The Mikado and Allegro (Rodgers & Hammerstein - first time ever in Berkshire!). The
orchestra will incorporate new as well as old friends. Stage One Youth will perform two items from
Grease (their September production). Pupils from Cox Green School will contribute to the occasion
and, to crown it all, nearly all the past Grimmbourne music directors will be singing their own item,
unaccompanied! That should be interesting!! Join us in the stunning surroundings of Taplow Court and
enjoy a picnic beforehand in the splendid grounds, from 6.00pm.
Note A reminder for those of you who are intending to come along to sing, the first rehearsal
at Foundation Park will be on Thursday 19 May at 7.30 (thereafter mainly on Wednesdays).
