The qualities that a person is expected to have as a responsible member of

a community is defined as citizenship. Volunteer work can be exemplified

as citizenship. Through volunteer work, one is a responsible member of the
community. That is how I show good citizenship, I volunteer in many ways
to help individuals. Throughout the years I have volunteered in many
places. One facility where I had occupied myself, was the Buffalo Zoo. In
2013, I helped organize and run many events such as Easter, and
Christmas at the Buffalo Zoo, where happy families would join as a bonding
experience. Another facility where Ive worked would be WNY MUSLIMS.
This organization creates awareness, encourages diversity, and provides
service. Here, we empowered Muslims and non-Muslims with the means to
voice, connect, and contribute through creative media. Then, in 2013 I
began volunteering for WNY MEDICAL PC, a medical office where I began
by scanning documents and organizing information electronically for
providers. Later on, I would be offered employment and intern at the facility
for 3 years. Another time where Ive displayed citizenship, would be
volunteering at nursing homes and food banks through National Honor
Society. At the nursing home, we spoke to the elderly, some who had little
to no human interaction. Heard their stories, of when they were young. At
the Food Bank, I helped by packing canned foods for christmas to those
families who have little to eat. Finally, I volunteered for the Urban League at
the Urban League Gala, an event hosted to gather money for scholarships
for the minority. In this facility, I had to get in a team and both team
members had to sell raffle tickets. In conclusion, citizenship, playing an
active role in society is very important to me, and I will continue my
volunteer work and be even more active in society.
