This week I have been playing through Tambourin and practicing improvising

using a given stimulus

In tambourin I have been targeting dynamics and ornamentation. As it is a
baroque piece it has very few dynamics written in, so it is my job as the
performer to think of them myself. I have been mainly making repeats of
sections quieter, like an echo. I also have added crescendos into various
sections, like the build-up In the minor section of the piece. There are a few
ornaments in the piece which I have discovered that I have been playing
wrong, I have been adding an extra quaver in so ive been playing these
sections without the ornaments and then adding them back in>
I have been finding it difficult thinking about specific violin techniques to add
into my improvisation. I have been practicing my harmonics and memorizing
their different positions on the strings and which notes they are. These are
good techniques to add into improvising to get more points.
I still find it really hard to play Eb minor tonal centre up to speed, especialy in
the higher octaves so I have been playing the scales up and down starting
from random points.
Each week I:
-warmed up with some scales, especially Eb
-Played through some harmonics
-Played through Tambourin, especially ornamented sections
-Did some improvisation imagination practice.
