‘Sample Timoline for an Odyssey of the Mind Year: ‘Summer: Hold coaches’ meeting and purchase membership for schools. Practice spontaneous problem solving with your kids! ‘August: Send out sign-up sheets to parents in PTO packets, set early September deadiine for return. September: Organize teams based on sign-ups and volunteer availabilty and begin team meetings ‘October-November: Mest with the teams at least bi-weekly. Attend coaches’ training usually first Saturday in November December: Begin weekly meetings until holiday break January: Continue weekly meetings and pian a couple of weekend build sessions. February: Continue weekly meetings and weekend build sessions. Attend Fun Day, usually the third or last Saturday in February, Atlend HTSD Odyssey of the Mind event and do final dress rehearsals of performances. March: Attend Regional Tournament the first or second Saturday in March at Moon Area MS/HS. This is an ALL DAY event for Divisions |, Il II. Primary teams have their own awards ceremonies and can leave after that. Everyone else MUST stay for the awards ceremony, It is a lot of fun to see the other teams present their solutions, especially ones in different age groups from their own. April: Attend State Tournament if teams advance. Advancing teams should continue to meet and ‘tweak their solutions. May: Attend World Finals if teams advance.
