Dear Parents and Guardians
We are delighted to announce that a cheque to the value of $13,627.55 has been forwarded to
Caritas Australia, the result of you generously supporting your children in raising funds for
Project Compassion and its stated outreach programmes to the needy around the world.
zach year, Term 2 is the time that the College turns its focus more on the local community and
it offers its support to the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. We defer to our elected
governments to act wisely and in the best interests of our country. Decisions are sometimes
‘made that end up hurting those in our communities that can bear the restrictions the least.
Impacts of budget measures are felt by a diversity of families and this year has again seen a
growing demand from families and individuals for rental assistance, power bill subsidies and
basic grocery goods and clothing, More and more people are experiencing the pressutes from a
basic and finite domestic budget.
‘To assist Vinnies in their outreach to all in need, we will be collecting over the next three weeks
non-perishable food, toiletries, blankets, clothing, as well as any cash donations. Please send
donated items via your son or daughter from Monday 6 June onwards until Friday 24 June.
Items of warm clothing and blankets may be deposited in Vinnies bins strategically placed in
office areas and the REC’s office, Room of Mercy D101. Good quality children’s and men’s
clothes are particularly in demand.
Non-perishable food items which will enable the Society to produce a balanced food hamper
may be taken to the home classtoom in boxes or shopping bags. These will then be sent to the
Strathspey or McAuley Offices, or the Room of Mercy for collection by the Vinnies’ van.
Some suggested items are:
Spagheui
Rice
Cereal
Pasta Sauces
Cans of tuna and salmon
Cans of soup.
‘Members of our College community may feel the economic squeeze to different degrees but, as
a Christian community, we continue to recognise that there ate mote and more families living on
the margins and seeking the assistance of the St Vincent de Paul Society.
God Bless
Pat Terminello KHS
Director of Mission
