HCR50 is requesting the University of Hawaii board of regents to consider designating

the national disaster preparedness training center, which is funded by the federal emergency
management agency, as an official university center.
As a current student at University of Manoa and a future student of Urban and Regional
Planning, I support the designation of a national disaster preparedness training center on campus.
Taking into account that this project will be funded by the Federal Emergency Management
Agency, I can only see it as beneficial to Hawai`i.
This center will be of great use to the peoples of Hawai`i considering the status of our
environment and military occupation. This center can provide training and immediate assistance
if any disaster were to occur.
