Friends Steel has launched new-generation rebars, ‘Friends 500 HD’, with High Yield Strength with High Elongation Value. It is superior to ordinary Fe500 grade rebars due to its increased elongation value. This grade of steel is superior to Fe500 because of the excellent strength-ductility combination it offers. Simultaneously it fully confirms, to statutory BIS requirements. "Friends 500 HD" Bars have the potential to be used in High Rises and give better protection against Earthquakes. “Friends 500 HD" bars are manufactured using only high quality raw materials with chemical composition adhering to IS:1786 Gr: Fe 500. This has been made possible only due to years of R& D at production level and major improvements in production infrastructure. The QST (Quenching Self Tempering) Manufacturing Process imparts high strength to the bar using the latest technique of thermo mechanical treatment (TMT) without compromising on ductility. After_heating ingots/billets in reheating furnace, (at temperature > 1100°C) 3 stage QST results in combination of strong outer layer of tempered martensite and ductile core of ferrite-pearlite. This is what give “Friends 500 HD” its unique combination of strength & ductility combination. Can Friends S00HD Bars be used for design where Fe 500 is advised by Architect/Engineer? > Yes, change in design is not required using for Friends SOOHD Bars instead of Fe S00grade bars. In fact, ability of structure to resist earthquake increases, Friends 500 HD The production of TMT rebars involve a combination of plastic deformation of steel in austenitic stage followed by quenching and further tempering, The process controls at each critical operation ensure uniform properties ineach rebar and provides the TMT rebars with a soft ferrite and pearlite fine grained core, a strong and tough tempered martensite layer imparting it with high ductility as well as strength. Thus making it ideal for high rises, dams, bridges, individual houses and any critical structures where high yield strength is required without compromising on the elongation properties. ‘It is manufactured through a superior quality and controlled steel making process to diminish the levels of impurities like Sulphur and Phosphorous. ‘= These impurities decrease the strength of steel in extreme hot and cold conditions. ‘= Therefore lower the values of Sulphur& Phosphorous the better TMT bars are produced with high Yield Stress. ‘= This range has low carbon content, dimensional tolerance capacity which meets to 1S: 1786:2008 standards, highly Durable owing to which it is used for bending and re-bending applications in construction industries carried out in earthquake prone areas.
