Matlamatnya adalah: i) MardhaKllah - SenKasa berusaha untuk mencapai Redha Allah
SWT, ii) Ihsan senKasa merasai diawasi oleh Allah, iii) Ithar SenKasa mengutamakan
orang lain, iv) Islah senKasa melaksanakan perubahan
Mardha)llah
Sesungguhnya orang-orang yang beriman hanyalah orang-orang yang beriman kepada
Allah dan Rasul-Nya kemudian mereka Kdak ragu-ragu dan mereka berjihad dengan harta
dan jiwa mereka pada jalan Allah, mereka itulah orang-orang yang benar.

Ithar
Dan orang-orang (Ansar) yang mendiami negeri (Madinah) serta beriman sebelum mereka,
mengasihi orang-orang yang berhijrah ke negeri mereka, dan Kdak ada pula dalam haK
mereka perasaan berhajatkan apa yang telah diberi kepada orang-orang yang berhijrah itu;
dan mereka juga mengutamakan orang-orang yang berhijrah itu lebih daripada diri mereka
sendiri, sekalipun mereka dalam keadaan kekurangan dan amat berhajat. Dan (ingatlah),
sesiapa yang menjaga serta memelihara dirinya daripada dipengaruhi oleh tabiat bakhilnya,
maka merekalah orang-orang yang berjaya.

UTM-MIT BLOSSOMS

BLOSSOMS is an educaKonal project of MIT, aimed at high school classes in Science,
Technology, Engineering and MathemaKcs (STEM). BLOSSOMS = Blended Learning Open
Source Science Or Math Studies. hnp://blossoms.mit.edu.

The project creates interacKve video lessons for high school STEM classes. This iniKal one-
year collaboraKve eort with UTM and MIT is viewed as Phase I of an anKcipated larger
mulK-year program. BLOSSOMS has these goals:

Excite young people about math, science & engineering, and STEM careers.
Show relevance of science and mathemaKcs to their real world.
Develop criKcal and creaKve thinking skills, moving away from rote memorizaKon and
teaching to a test.
Introduce the in-class teacher to technology-enabled educaKon in a supporKve way that
allows her/him to stay in charge of the class.
Encourage teachers away from a lecture format to a more acKve, problem-based style of
teaching.
Develop an awareness, understanding and appreciaKon for other cultures.
With this new project, Malaysia, through UTM, will join other BLOSSOMS country partners
such as Jordan, Pakistan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Brazil and the USA.

Every day students from countries all over the world collaborate on important projects. The
web site, ePals, is a site where teachers and students can go to join or start a collaboraKve
project with anyone in the world. According to ePals, Inc., Our Global Community is the
largest online community of K-12 learners, enabling more than 325,000 educators and
126,000 classrooms in over 200 countries and territories to safely connect, exchange ideas,
and learn together. Award winning SchoolBlog and SchoolMail products are widely used
and trusted by schools around the world.

As we have seen from our own experiences, from the media, from university research, and as
it was demonstrated in the Did You Know? video, technologies, especially the Internet, have
resulted in a globalized society. The world is now at. Our world has been transformed,
and will conKnue to change at ever-increasing rates.

In order for our students to be prepared to navigate this 21st century world, they must
become literate in 21st century literacies, including mulKcultural, media, informaKon,
emoKonal, ecological, fnancial and cyber literacies. CollaboraKng with students from around
the world in meaningful, real-life projects is a necessary tool for developing these literacies.
Students can learn that through collaboraKon, not compeKKon, they can work together to
make the world a bener place. Students will use technologies, including the Internet, and
global collaboraKon to solve criKcal issues.

"CriKcal pedagogy considers how educaKon can provide individuals with the tools
to bener themselves and strengthen democracy, to create a more egalitarian and
just society, and thus to deploy educaKon in a process of progressive social
change. Media literacy involves teaching the skills that will empower ciKzens and
students to become sensiKve to the poliKcs of representaKons of race, ethnicity,
gender, sexuality, class, and other cultural dierences in order to foster criKcal
thinking and enhance democraKzaKon. CriKcal media literacy aims to make
viewers and readers more criKcal and discriminaKng readers and producers of
texts.

"CriKcal media pedagogy provides students and ciKzens with the tools to analyze
criKcally how texts are constructed and in turn construct and posiKon viewers and

It is highly probable that but for the Islam, modern European civiliza)on would never have
risen at all. There is no single aspect of European growth in which decisive inuence of
Islamic culture is not traceable what we call science arose in Europe as a result of a new

Through topics like roboKcs, ight and space, and DNA and
crime scene analysis, middle school students engage their
