Unfortunately, I havent been able to meet with my mentor for a little while - between
conferences, days at the lab, and other obligations, my mentor has been quite busy, and to be fair,
I have been kept busy by the winter-spring time Junior year rush. On the bright side, I have quite
a few hours saved up from over the summer and from earlier on in the school year, so I should be
good in terms of meeting the bare hour requirements for the class. Soon, I hope to be able to get
back to regularly going on site, but as April approaches, that looks less and less likely to happen.
My paper has been coming along well, and I have had a chance to talk to my mentor about it and
review the paper with her over the phone. I have made all the final changes to my paper that I
wanted to make, so I just have to turn it in tomorrow. In terms of my progress with preparing for
SLC, both my presentation and the conference itself have been coming along well through the
planning stages. I hope to make my presentation a little bit longer before I finalize everything,
but content-wise, I dont think that I am missing any major details. I plan on talking about the
parasite that I am studying, its host, the spread of the parasite on the East Coast, as well as
differentiating between the sexes of the crabs that I spend most of my time sorting through. I
think that by covering all of this, I would be including the vast majority of both the information
that I have learned as well as my activities on site. Ill probably end up showing you my
presentation before I finalize it, just to get your opinion on how its coming along. Besides that,
the class has been going along great! I look forward to a smooth rest of the year and hope that
everything will continue to go as planned.
