    Section1300.440APNScopeofPractice

    a)Advancedpracticenursingbycertifiednursepractitioners,certifiednurseanesthetists,certified
    nursemidwives,orclinicalnursespecialistsisbasedonknowledgeandskillsacquired
    throughoutanadvancedpracticenurse'snursingeducation,trainingandexperience.

    b)Practiceasanadvancedpracticenursemeansascopeofnursingpractice,withorwithout
    compensation,andincludestheregisterednursescopeofpractice.

    c)Thescopeofpracticeofanadvancedpracticenurseincludes,butisnotlimitedto,eachofthe
    following:

    1)Advancednursingpatientassessmentanddiagnosis.

    2)Orderingdiagnosticandtherapeutictestsandprocedures,performingthosetestsand
    procedureswhenusinghealthcareequipment,andinterpretingandusingtheresultsof
    diagnosticandtherapeutictestsandproceduresorderedbytheadvancedpracticenurse
    oranotherhealthcareprofessional.

    3)Orderingtreatments,orderingorapplyingappropriatemedicaldevices,andusing
    nursing,medical,therapeutic,andcorrectivemeasurestotreatillnessandimprovehealth
    status.

    4)Providingpalliativeandendoflifecare.

    5)Providingadvancedcounseling,patienteducation,healtheducation,andpatient
    advocacy.

    6)PrescriptiveauthorityasdefinedinSection6540oftheAct.

    7)Delegatingselectednursingactivitiesortaskstoalicensedpracticalnurse,aregistered
    professionalnurse,orotherpersonnel.(Section6530oftheAct)
