Activity 7.1
Language Focus:
Skills Focus:
Time (approx):
Preparation:
Procedure
Make sure your students are familiar with the present perfect question form (draw their attention to the grammar box
on page 51 of the Students Book).
Ask your students to look at the table on Worksheet 7 and think of three more experiences to write in rows 8, 9 and
10. Monitor and help where needed.
Next, ask your students to stand up and move around, asking each other questions, so as to find names to complete
their worksheet table.
Encourage students to speak to as many of their classmates as possible (you could insist they include ten different
names on their worksheet).
Also encourage students to find out extra information for the third column of the worksheet table.
After your students have had about 15 minutes to chat, tell them to sit down again, and ask a few of them what they
found out.
For an additional activity, you could ask your students to draw up a survey using the information they have found
during Activity 7.1. This could be a homework activity.
E.g. 14 out of 30 students have broken a leg.
10% of the class have met someone famous, etc.
Activity 7.2

Time (approx):
Preparation:
Procedure
Ask your students to get into small groups to tackle the activity.
Explain that youd like each group to work together to sort the 16 items of vocabulary on the worksheet into four
categories those associated with swimming, skiing, football and tennis.
Note: it may be possible to place some words in more than one category, e.g. net could go with football but is more
often associated with tennis. Ask the students to agree on the best groupings.
When you discuss the groups answers, make sure that each student knows what each word means (use pictures,
perhaps, where possible).
