GLP Outcomes and Reactions

Participants in this project originate from the student population of Azusa Pacific University
working with Mexico Outreach and the schools of the Mexicali region connecting with Azusa
Pacific University. The schools participating range in grade level from middle school to high
school. For the initial pilot of the program, the schools that participated were Cetis 75, Escuela
Secundaria 76 Francisco I. Madero, Cecyte Plantel Compuertas, and Escuela Secundaria 84
General Vicente Guerrero.
Forum Connection
Outcome: Ron Aramburo, Assistant Director of Mexico Outreach, traveled to the Mexicali
region recruiting schools to participate in the project. Ultimately, we ended up with ten schools
interested in participating however, we had approached summer at this point. Because of this,
we were limited to schools that could participate immediately. Fortunately, we located four
schools that could participate in the pilot immediately. The schools began posting in our forum
and we had a representative from Mexico Outreach communicating with them via posting and
video chat.
Reactions: Reactions from the Mexicali region were very positive. The schools were grateful at
the opportunity to be able to communicate with Mexico Outreach volunteers in a new way
other than through in-person visitation. From Mexico Outreach, Ron Aramburo was excited to
finally get this project off the ground. He had this vision for quite some time of having a central
site. I am proud to have been able to launch this initiative.
Reactions I received from students within Mexico Outreach were also very positive. The
reactions were mainly from Team Luke which is the team that will be handling a majority of the
testing from the Mexico Outreach side. The students of Team Luke have been happily engaging
the Mexicali schools which has been a huge blessing to the establishing of relationships. I have
