Solving Word Problems In Numerous Ways ‘As we have learned these past few days of school, each of us is unique. We see things in different ways as well as go about completing tasks in our daily lives in a variety of ways. For example, Lisa and Jake both need to get ready for school in the morning. Lisa wakes up, gets dressed, eats breakfast, brushes her teeth, and leaves for school. Jake wakes up, eats breakfast, brushes his teeth, gets dressed, and then leaves for school. They both accomplish the same task, getting ready for school, but went about completing the task in different ways. How does being unique apply to math? There are often many different ways a math problem can be solved. Many different strategies such as using words, pictures, numbers, and/or symbols can be used to solve a word problem. Your task: How many different ways can you and your group members solve your assigned word problew? Think about all the different math strategies you have previously learned. Consider the ones mentioned above. You must come up with more than one way, using a variety of strategies, to solve your assigned problem. Each way you discover should be on new page in Baiboard. You must show all of your work AND clearly label your steps and final answers. You shel be working as a group to solve and discover new ways to arrive at solutions to your word problem.
