Main event of the war in the Pacific for the year 1943

1943
This year, the Allies had got the chance
to strengthen their power in the Pacific
as the result of the weakened Japanese
naval force due to their big lost in the
Battle of the Midway and the loss of their
Admiral Yamamoto.
The Japanese in this year, lack of
resources which has been bypass by the
Allies submarines, lack of an aircrew
program and lack of naval vessel which a
lot of them had destroyed in the Battle of
Midway.

24 Jan: New
Guinea
secured by
Allies

29 Jan: The
Japanese beat the
Americans in the
Battle of Rennel
Island and the
USSChicago is
lost.

9 Feb: Guadalcanal is
finally secured; it is
the first major
achievement of the
American offensive in
the Pacific war.

18 Apr: Admiral
Yamamoto was
killed when his
plane was shot
down

The Allies implement leapfrog strategy to


save resources and went to capture only
strategic point of the Japanese territory.
By the middle of the year, the Allies have
captured many of the Japanese chain
island.
The year ended Allies won the Battle of
Tarawa which is indeed in their leapfrog
plan.

Nov 1: United States Marines land on


Bougainville in the Solomon Islands. The
fighting on this island will continue to the end
of the war.
