Preparing event

I prefer practical activities, projects and experiments because students are more engaged, learn
easier and participate with pleasure.
The theme of the event was announced in the whole school. There was an enrollment period in
which students expressed their desire to participate in this event. The teacher Valeria Iordache
helped by three assistant teachers bought and prepared the necessarly materials to perform the
two experiments.
Integrating in Class
The teacher Valeria Iordache attended a National Conference about Science in Bucharest. There
she participated in a training workshop. She then proposed activity in an educational project
approved by the school board and the school inspectorate Brasov. In this activity students
participate with their mothers or grandmothers. The involvement of mothers aimed at attracting
them in school activities of children and improving relations between school-family-community.
Event Plan
STEM event was attended by 50 pupils in primary aged 8-10 years with their mother or
grandmother. In total 100 people. The activity took place on April 29, 2016 at 17 o'clock in
school. In the event teacher Valeria Iordache has proposed to deploy two experiments after which
colors to highlight the significance of substances in food.
In the first experiment the red shows that substance is acidic, and blue shows that it is based.
In the second experiment to determine starchy foods in black or dark blue.
The goal was to familiarize students with concepts of primary chemistry, biology, physics,
mathematics are taught in secondary school. By experiments students will more easily
understand certain concepts. They will be developing skills XXI century.
