Save all parts of the crate including the plastic and metal
clips until the Imager is installed and operational.
1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to pry out and remove the 11 plastic clips
on the left side panel.

4. Bend the 4 metal clips open on the bottom of the front panel.
5. Bend the 4 metal clips open on right edge of the front panel.
6. Lift and remove the front panel.

7. Bend the 4 metal clips open on the bottom of the rear panel.
8. Bend the 3 metal clips open on the bottom of the right side panel.
9. With 2 people, lift and remove the rear and right side panels
together.

10. With scissors, cut the foil bag all around the base of the Imager.
11. Remove the foil bag.
NOTE: The bottom of the foil bag, under the Imager, will remain in place.

5. Check that the 4 stops are all the way up. If not, loosen the locknut
on each stop and adjust the stops up as far as possible.
NOTE: If necessary, use a 16mm open-end wrench or adjustable
wrench to loosen the locknut.

CAUTION:
Two people are required to move the Imager down the ramp.
Stand in front of the Imager as you control its movement down
the ramp. The force of the Imager down the ramp is about 48
kg (106 lbs). Be careful not to tip the Imager or allow it to roll
off the side of the ramp. The Imager weighs from 266 kg (587
lbs) to 287 kg (632 lbs) depending on whether or not there is a
sorter.

Check that the following items are included with the crate:
5. If the Imager does not have the optional sorter, a box containing a
small plastic cover, screws, and hole plugs is included.
NOTE: The User Documentation CD and 2 printed manuals were
removed when the top was removed from the crate. The CD
contains the following manuals: Site Readiness Checklist, Users
Guide, Safety Manual, Quality Control Guide for Mammography,
and this manual.

1. Check that you have moved the heel locks inside the film drawers to
the unlocked position. (See Page 12.)
2. Check that you have removed the optics locking bracket and foam
pads. (See Page 13.)
3. Check that you have removed the 2 screws that secured the
processor to the frame. (See Page 15.)
4. Check that you have removed the optics shipping lock plate. (See
Page 17.)

Sorter Option
If your Imager has the sorter, continue with the "Sorter Option"
procedure below.
If your Imager does not have the optional sorter, continue with the
Non-Sorter Option on page 28.
If the Imager has the optional sorter, you must install the 5 film trays and
7 sorter covers. The following figure shows the items to be installed.
IMPORTANT: You must remove the back cover from the sorter and
re-install the back cover later.

Follow the instructions on the touch screen to configure the Imager
and complete the installation process. The following steps
supplement the instructions that appear on the touch screen.
During this process you enter the network information for the Imager
and configuration information for each modality that will print to the
Imager.
NOTE: For more information on modality setup and image optimization,
see section 4 in the Users Guide, 2G8647.

12. Press the power button on the local panel to restart the Imager.
A network information screen appears after the Imager starts.

16. Enter the name and address location on the next screens, and
touch OK.
Modality Setup
18. When Setup Send Image appears, send an image from one of
the modalities you want to set up with the Imager.
NOTE: The default DICOM port number of the Imager is 5040; the
default AE Title is DV6850.
20. At Setup Send Image, touch OK and wait for the Modality Reset
screen.
21. Touch the name of the modality you printed from and touch Select.
22. On the Sorter Bin screen, select one of the 5 sorter bins to receive
prints from this modality and touch OK.
If your Imager does not have a sorter, the only choice is sorter bin 1.
NOTE: When a modality prints to the Imager for the first time, the Imager
searches for the modality in the Modality Preferences Database
(MPDB) in the Imager. The MPDB contains typical image quality
settings for many modalities.
23. This message indicates the results of the search in the MPDB: This
modality is recognized as below, for which recommended image
quality parameters are available. Do you want to use them?
A second part of the message indicates if the modality was found in
the MPDB.
Touch Yes
If the above message correctly
lists the modality type,
manufacturer and model for
the modality you are
configuring.
This indicates that the modality
has been found in the MPDB.
Advance to step 25.

If the above message lists the

NOTE: If the image quality of prints from any of the modalities is not
acceptable, manually adjust the individual image quality

Troubleshooting
CAUTION:
Never pull on the cord to disconnect the plug from the wall
outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect.
2. Press the power switch, at the bottom of the Imager, to OFF (O).
3. Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.
4. Check that the power cord is properly connected to the AC power
connector on the Imager.
8. If the Imager still does not start up, contact your Carestream Health
representative.
NOTE: When power is turned ON, the Imager goes through a learning
period and then displays Ready.
