METHOD STATEMENT FOR

UNDERGROUND WATER PIPE LINE
INSTALLATION
1. DRAWINGS : Follow approved water supply drawings.
2. MATERIALS :
a.) Approved PVC schedule 80 pipes and fittings for water lines.
b.) Fine sand for sand bedding.
3. Method of Installations:
a.) Prepare approved drawings for water lines and significant materials
and tools for pipe installation.
b.) Excavate trenches up to required level according to drawings with a
width of 20cm.
c.) Apply 100mm compacted sand bedding.
d.) Layout the pipe on the bedding according to approved drawing. Pipes
and fittings shall be aligned properly without strain.
4. Pressure Test:
a.) Leave uncovered and unconcealed water piping until it has been tested
and approved.
b.) Secure ends are plugged tightly excluding one end to fill water for leak
testing and connection for air application.
c.) Apply air pressure of 50psi.
d.) For good result, the pipe shall withstand the test without leaking for a
period of not less than fifteen (15) minutes. (UPC-IAPMO page-54).
5. If no leaks found and get approval, fill fine sand 100mm above the pipes.
6. Start backfilling the pipe up to required level.
