Abstract

This research deals with the question of improving the functional performance of Primary
Education Buildings in The Gaza Strip by taking into account the most important standards
and design norms for the spaces forming the building, during the design phase.
As classrooms spaces are one of the important spaces forming the building, as they represent
60 70% of the building spaces; the researcher concentrated on the importance of specifying
the most important standards and design norms for these types of spaces.
The study at hands considers the following:
- Design criteria which have to be taken into account when starting the design phase.
- Design criteria for the classrooms spaces (Room Data).
- Design norms for the classrooms spaces.
This research has lead to highlighting the most important standards and appropriate design
norms for Primary Education Buildings, in order to improve their functional performance.
