graders also participated in an


Earth Day inspired lesson. Using
styrofoam trays that would normally
be thrown away or recycled, students
indented designs in them using dull
pencils. Focus was placed on only
using different types of lines and
shapes when creating their design.

Once their design was finished,
students used ink rollers to roll
tempera paint onto the design side of
their Styrofoam square. They then
pushed the square down on a sheet of
paper 4 times, next to one another.
This technique is called block printing.
