Citation and commencement. (1) These regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shiping (Marine Labour Convention) Regulations, 2012 (@) These regulations shall come into force onthe 20" August, 2013. 2. Interpretation. In these epuations “Act” means the Merchant Shipping Act (Ch, 268); “authorised offer" means a person appointed. by te competent authority; “Authority” means The Bahamas Martine Autodsy; ‘Pulletn” means The Banas Mame Autoritys Bullins; “conpetent authority” means — (@) forthe terms and conditions of employment, welfre and social protection and otber related mates, the Director of, TLbour or a representative designated by the Director of abou; (6) for maming, hours of work and res, secommolation, complaints on board ship, and other relate! mates, the Director of The Bahamas. Application. These regulations apply to — (@) Bahamian ships engaged in commercial activities, except — (© ships engaged in ishing (Gi) warships ornaval ships, or (Gi) _any other ship as determined by the Dizetor; (©) scaurers, except the categories of persons determined by the Director and specitiodin Bulletin: or (6) seafuerrecuiment and placement services regstered and licensed in The Bahamas PART Il - CERTIFICATION 4. Minimum age for seafarer.
