Helio my name is Eljah and | willbe telling you the time | went through the ten stops of Ells Island. While | was at Ellis Island | was an immigrant coming fram India to America and the reason | came to ‘America is because the weather was bad and there was a lack of food so | came to America. Now this is the story of when I came to America going through Ellis Island. Once when | got to Ellis Island | was happy because | can start a new life at America with my my wife named Sarah and two kids named ‘TVler and Eljah j. Once when we got to the first stop we were happy that we made it to Elis island bbut we had to wait to get off the ship we had to wait for three days until we could get off the ship but the good thing is that we stayed in first class. Before we left we decided to enjoy the rest of the stay 50 | decided to read a pamphlet. It said “The invention of the steamboat transformed immigration.” ‘which started the first stop which is The Passage. After the three days past by we were finally able to get off the steamboat we went to the second stop which is the The Arrival. Once when we got of the boat there was some information around the Ellis Island one of the signs said “Only 75% of a ship's passengers went to Ellis island.” Once when we got to the third stop which is called the the Ells Island Baggage Room. Once when we left are bags and | found another pamphlet and it said “Immigrants carried their possessions all the way from their homeland.” But | couldn’t read anymore of it because we had to go to the fourth stop The Stairs to the Registry Room While we were there | overheard two people talking and they said “The number of immigrants exceeded expectation.” Once when we got to the fifth stop which is the The Registry Room also while we were almost about to sign the paper ! learned something that worried me about my kids my wife and me. What | learned was that children could be sent back to their home countries. After | heard that one of us could be sent back home and | only told my wife about it and | told my not to tell the kids so they won't be scared so we didn’t tell them. While we were leaving the Registry Room | ‘was praying that my neither of my kids would get send all the way back home. Once when we got to the sixth stop The Medical Exam also while we were there | saw another pamphlet and read until | had to take the medical exam they | was alright and they said that my wife Sarah was alright but there was some bad news my kids were sick my wife bursted into tears and she said “No no no please please I can’t live without my kids it just can’t be” then I said “Try checking again there might be a glitch in the computer”. Then once when I was trying to stop. the tears from coming down my face he had some good news the kids were alright and | gave both of my kids a big hug and | told them”! love you and wherever you'll go | will always be there for you when you need me most”. After we all wiped the tears off of are faces we went to the seventh stop it was called The Detainees. While we were there | saw a sign and it said’ Immigration policies changed after world war 1”then we went to the next stop, Once when we got the ninth stop The Stairs of Separation. While we were there we had to climb a ton of stairs to get to the top but it was worth it also once we got up to the top | found another pamphlet and it said” More than 30 different languages were spoken. Then we went to the final stop the tenth stop The Kissing Post.Once when we got to the kissing post | said “Finally it has been a long time” and then before we were able to fully be americans we had to have to learn the laws and say the pledge and their was one last pamphlet and it said “Hundreds of people worked at Ellis Island” and that’s my story.
