Web Technology 25-Persistent and Nonpersistent Connections

This document discusses persistent and nonpersistent connections in web technology. Nonpersistent connections use HTTP 1.0 and require opening and closing a TCP connection for each request and response, while persistent connections are the default for HTTP 1.1 and leave the TCP connection open for additional requests after a response is sent. Using persistent connections can reduce latency through pipelining and fewer round trips compared to nonpersistent connections which treat each object transfer independently.
