The Gamma Rays are the high frequency, high energy and shorter
wavelength rays. There are severeal application of gamma rays in
our daily lives :

Detecting crack in pipes and aircraft parts

Gamma radiation can be used to
search for cracks in welds and
pipes and give an early warning
of failure where they are wearing
thin useful for aeroplane
safety checks

Cancer treatment

Radiation therapy uses high-energy radiation to shrink tumors and kill

cancer cells .Gamma rays and charged particles are types of radiation
used for cancer treatment.

The radiation may be delivered by a machine outside the body, or it

may come from radioactive material placed in the body near cancer
cells.

Kill harmful bacteria

Industries used gamma rays to kill bacteria, organism like yeast.
Food irradiation is the process of exposing foodstuffs to ionizing radiation.
This treatment is used to preserve food, reduce the risk of food borne
illness, prevent the spread of invasive pests, and delay or eliminate
sprouting or ripening.

Sterilization of
Medical
Instruments
Gamma rays are generally used for the
sterilization
of
gaseous,
liquid,
solid
materials, homogeneous and heterogeneous
systems and medical devices, such as
syringes, needles, and cannulas.
Energy of gamma rays passes through hive
equipment, disrupting the pathogens that
cause contamination.

Detect Brain
and Heart
Abnormalities

A nuclear medicine procedures use a radioactive

material,
called
a
radiopharmaceutical
or
radiotracer, which is injected into the bloodstream,
swallowed or inhaled as a gas.
This radioactive material accumulates in the organ
such as brain and heart, where it gives off a small
amount of energy in the form of gamma rays.
Special cameras are used for gamma rays to detect
the abnormalities of the organs, and with the help
of a computer, it will create pictures offering
details on the damaged organs.
