LESSON PLAN: Parts of the Body (Partes del Cuerpo)

DURATION: 15 minutes

CLASS: Standard Two

NUMBER OF STUDENTS: 24

Context
Spanish has been named as the official second language of Trinidad and Tobago. Also, Trinidad
is surrounded by many Spanish speaking countries. Students need to be able to know simple
vocabulary to build foundation for when they need to communicate with relatives or travel to a
foreign country.
Set Induction
Teacher will engage students in a discussion about the different parts of their body and articles of
clothing associated with them. The class will then sing Head, shoulders, knees and feet in
English.
Objectives
At the end of this lesson, students should be able to:

Name their body parts in Spanish.


Develop a competency in Spanish communicative skills.
Answer questions orally using learned material.

Body parts in English


Counting 1- 10 in Spanish
Clothing associated with each body part
Edited version of Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.

Procedure
Teacher will review body parts in English by singing Head,

Using flash cards, the teacher introduces the Spanish names for

the body parts. Students repeat each word after the teacher.
The teacher shows a video. Students view the video and sing
along.

name of body part and the students must call its Spanish name.
