Cell Organelle Campaign Names: Background information: You and your group have to run a campaign to get your assigned cell organelle elected as The Most Important Organelle in the World! You will have to argue that without your organelle, both the cell and ‘the organism, and, consequently, the world as we know it will collapse. Assignment Create a campaign poster that champions the “greatness” of your organelle. Your poster needs to include: A graphic ofthe organelle Details of the structure and function of the organelle (be sure to relate structure to function, not just provide definitions) ‘+ References (ths includes the textbook, notepack and a Iist of websites visited) + Reasons why your organelle is important for the survival of the organism. ‘© Although not necessary, feel fee to include quotes of doctors and/or experts to strengthen your rational. Remember: It's crucial for you to make the connection for your voter about why your organelle is the MOST important; this isthe basis of the assignment! 2. Prepare a smear campaign against at least 5 other organelles. In order to do this, you must: ‘© Identify diseases that are associated with mutations or malfunctions of the other organelles, Create some sort of literature against it (examples of literature include: pamphlet, fact sheet, T-shirt, video, prezi etc.) 3. Write a campaign speech and prepare for Election Day (November 1). Choose one person from your group to present a written speech that convinces voters (ie. your classmates), that based on the structure and function of your cell, your organelle is the most important. {A copy of the speech will be handed in : Speeches are limited to § minutes During the speech, you will need to deflect the smear campaigns that have hit you Afterall the speeches are complete, a vote will commence.
