Competence is underlying knowledge of a system or nonobservable ability whereas performance is observable ability or realization of competence. If there is no competence, there won't be any performance, I guess. The relationship between competence and performance is like a combination of head and feet.

What I learnt was that competence is underlying knowledge of a system or
nonobservable ability whereas performance is observable ability or realization of competence. In short, performance is the action form of the competence.
What I had difficulty in figuring out was heterogeneous competence. I
couldn’t understand the exact definition and function of it .
I suppose I need to focus more on my study. Final exams are coming and I am still waiting for inspiration. If I don’t fill up my competence, I won’t be able to show my performance
I believe I may use “competence-performance” in my teaching. But I feel
that they should be in balance. Competence isn’t completely ignored. If there is no competence, there won’t be any performance, I guess. At the same time, if valuable information is not put into practice, it will be useless. The relationship between competence and performance is like a combination of head and feet. Head must show the road and feet must walk to reach the goal. I can use both of them by encouraging my students to think about the problems and to say what they think.
