What are the uses of a Virtual

Classroom in the teaching and

learning of ESL/EFL?”
What is Virtual Education?
 Virtual education refers to instruction
in a learning environment where
teacher and student are separated by
time or space, or both, and the
teacher provides course content
through course management
applications multimedia resources,
the internet , videoconferencing,etc.
Advantages of Virtual
Learning and Teaching
The live virtual classroom enables learners to
share their experience in a virtual
environment with tools that can take that
sharing to a new level.
Allows learners to do things such as share

their screens to demonstrate tricks and tips

for searching a customer database or surf
to helpful websites.
 Instructors can lecture to the students
and questions can be answered
immediately.

 Flexibility –Participants may view these

sessions to review sessions post-class or
make up a missed class as needed.

Disadvantages of Virtual
Learning and Teaching
 Sometimes not being obligated to a
certain day and time can lead to
procrastination.

 Before you know it the second week of
class has arrived, but you haven't
started on week one's assignments.
Once you get behind it can be difficult
to catch up. This emphasizes two
important qualities that a successful
online student should have: self-
motivation and self-discipline..
Virtual Classroom might contain:

 Class activities
 Group and individual
learning activities
 Discussions and chats
with students,
parents and guests
 Quizzes and surveys
 Homework activities
and assessment
documents
 Full online courses
with modules of
work
