Results of the study
Fig. 6 shows the recommended expansion programme and
the planned commissioning dates for future projects. to

‘The selected sequence is formed primarily by hydro-
power projects, with a total of 1510 MW in the year
1990 and 2843 MW installed capacity by the year 2000.
Only after’ 1996 will it be more favourable to install
thermal powerplants since, from this year on they show
superior economic return than most of remaining
hydropower projects, according to the cost assumptions
made.
Hydroelectric installed capacity would represent 73 per
cent of the total in the year 2000, and for the year 1990
the proportion is nearly 90 per cent of the total installed
