    Standing Senate Committee on Internal Economy,


    Budgets and Administration

    OTTAWA (June 10, 2010) – Senator David Tkachuk, Chair of the Standing Senate Committee
    on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration and Senator George Furey, Deputy Chair,
    announced today that the committee has decided to hold meetings in public in the future, in order
    to increase transparency for Canadians about institutional decisions.

    The Internal Economy committee is responsible for overseeing administrative and budgetary
    issues for the entire Senate, including committee budgets and the office, travel and
    accommodation expenses of individual senators.

    The committee will reserve the right to hold in camera meetings when the agenda deals with
    personnel or contractual matters.
