A person experiences the painful end of a relationship when their partner says "I love you, but..." Their words hit them like an avalanche, leaving them feeling cold, numb, and questioning whether their love was truly unconditional as they had believed. The cold floor and cold heart they are left with mirror the freezing force of the unexpected breakup.

Her words hit me how I imagine an avalanche to feel.
“I love you, but…” And even though she continued speaking, It faded out. The ice and freezing force had hit me unexpectedly. Wasn’t this love supposed to be unconditional? I remembered another tempting cold feeling. The feeling of a cold razor on dancing, hyper nerves. I could feel the watery remain of the avalanche on my face. But she was gone already, And the rest of me was acutely aware of my surroundings, Focused on the cold, hard floor. Which reminded me of the way my heart felt just then. Cold, hard, and someday on my part, Lifeless. Because life is nothing without love. And hers was supposed to be unconditional. Hope she remembers Once you get past cold, All you are is numb.
