San Diego Zoo, Human Resources

2920 Zoo Drive
San Diego, CA 92101

Dear Human Resources Department:

After viewing the San Diego website, I became interested in possible employment as an animal
care specialist. I am submitting this letter in application for this position.

I have a great deal of experience working with animals. As a member of the Block & Bridle club
at Penn State University I have trained animals for the Little International Livestock Exposition,
volunteered at South Branch Veterinary Clinic, and interned at Centre Wildlife Care, a wildlife
rehabilitation volunteering as animal caretaker.

In my internship at Centre Wildlife Care, I was part of a group of volunteers responsible for the
caring of sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife species. My role as an intern involved feeding,
cleaning, sterilizing equipment, and treating the animals on a daily basis. Being part of a group
of volunteers in helping and caring for the wildlife has allowed Centre Wildlife Care to keep
moving forward successfully every year.
As a member of the Block & Bridle club, I have gained experience training and preparing large
animal species for Little International Livestock exposition held every year. I had the opportunity
to train one of four species of livestock and compete in challenging judging and fitting contests
and showmanship competitions. I have shown a beef heifer, a horse (twice), and sheep the last
four school years as a student and ranked first through fourth place in showmanship and fitting. I
have learned a lot about animal behavior and have enhanced my skills to work patiently and
successfully with the animals.

I have lots of energy to exert in work and am an enthusiastic hard worker with the desire to learn
many new concepts and skills. I would enjoy being part of the San Diego zoo staff and become
part of a new experience working at the zoo. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for
your time.

Cordially,

Carolina M. Villalobos
