    The Franklin County Board of Commissioners will hold a special meeting on June 25, 2010 to welcome the U.S. Coast Guard Deepwater Horizon Incident Commander. The meeting will discuss tourism, questions about the closure of Bob Sikes Pass, and oil recovery resources deployed in Florida. A proposal was submitted to temporarily block Bob Sikes Cut if oil threatens to enter, but the state DEP has not taken action yet.     APALACHICOLA—There will be a special meeting of the Franklin County Board of


    Commissioners on Friday June 25, 2010 at the Franklin County Courthouse Annex beginning at
    1:30 PM. The purpose of the meeting is to welcome CAPT Steven Poulin, Captain of the Port
    and U.S. Coast Guard Deepwater Horizon Incident Commander. Items of discussion will
    include: Tourism, Pass Closure questions, and Oil Recovery Resources deployed in Florida. This
    is public meeting. All citizens are invited to attend.

    Update to Bob Sikes Pass closing:

    Following instructions of the Board of County Commissioners, Charles Tear from CGA
    yesterday hand delivered a proposal to Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Michael
    Soles a new proposal to temporarily block Bob Sikes Cut in the case of an imminent oil encroachment
    through the Cut.

    As of this afternoon, no action has been transmitted by Florida DEP. Franklin County and CGA continue to
    explore options for temporary blockage techniques that would meet with State of Florida approval as
    directed by the County Commission at their meeting on Friday June 18.
