Marinara sauce from Tyler Florence

Ingredients:
Extra-virgin olive oil
1 onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 (28 ounce) cans of whole tomoatoes
5 fresh basil leaves, cut in fine ribbons
2 tbs. chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
2 bay leaves
Pinch of red pepper flakes
½ tsp. sugar
Sea salt and fresh ground pepper

Directions:
In a large pot over med-high heat, drizzle olive oil and add onions and garlic when oil is
hot. Sauté for 5 minutes or until onions begin to appear translucent. Hand-crush the
tomatoes and add them along with their liquid. Toss in the herbs, red pepper flakes, and
sugar. Season with salt and pepper. Lower the heat and simmer for 45 minutes, stirring
occasionally.
