ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION

Pollution is the contamination of the earth’s environment with materials that are
dangerous for human health, the quality of life, or the natural functioning of ecosystems
(living organisms and their physical surroundings.
There are many factors that pollute our environment and we ourselves are
responsible for them. For example, gutter water, heaps of garbage, the chemicals from
factories, the gases coming out from the factories and motors cars and smoke, growing
use of chemical fertilizers, insecticides, etc.

THE TYPES OF POLLUTION AND EFFECTS ON THE ENVIRONMENT

AIR POLLUTION
For staying alive in clean environments, is the birth right of every living
being. Air is the important requirement for staying alive. One may live without seconds is
impossible. There are many gases present in the air but basically it is a mixture of
nitrogen, oxygen and carbon dioxide.

AIR POLLUTION

Apart from this, air also contains a small

quantity of ozone, freone, helium, krypton,
methane and hydrogen. Water vapours are
present in the air from 0 to 4 per cent
according to weight. Apart from this, certain
gases, which are harmful, are also present in
the air.

According to world health organization

(WHO), an adult human being requires
approximately 15 kilogram of air daily. By
nature the gasses, which are present in the air and used many of them become part of the
environment. In our scientific times, the ratio of these gasses in the environment is
changing drastically. Due to different human activities, a number of poisonous gases are
entering the environment disturbing the nature balance of the earth. The additional
harmful contents in the air e.g. gases, smoke, dust, poisonous vapours and radioactive
rays are called air pollution. Human beings, agriculture and buildings can
