Experiment 2

Activity Code : 6/2/1.3/8

What do I want ?

To study how different types of surfaces affects the distance a trolley moves

What do I need ? (Apparatus/Materials)

Trolley, wood surface, glass surface, sand paper surface, metre ruler, stop watch, brikck

What do I do ?

1. Place the wooden surface on a piece of brick to form an inclined plane as shown in the diagram
below.

2. Push the trolley moved down on the inclined plane.

3. The distance the trolley moves is measured.

4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 by pushing the trolley on a glass surface and sand paper surface.

5. Record your observation in a table.

1. Write down your observation. (SPS1-C1,C3)(SPS3-C1,C2)

Type of surface The distance the trolley moves (cm)

Grass surface

Wooden surface

Sandpaper surface

2. Based on the observation, which surface is rougher ?
