A Mother’s Revenge

By Janet C. Holstine
Just five years old on that disastrous day

Her life changed forever,

That bastard took her innocents away.

A threat on my life if she uttered a word,

Kept her silence true.

Her secret would not be heard,

For she was the only one who knew.

As faith would have it,

A year later the truth came about.

I fell to my knees in tears,

Listening to the words coming from her mouth.

A police statement was taken,

My baby told her story again.

There was no hiding my heart was breaking,

I would get my mother’s revenge.

They say I will burn in hell,

For the vengeance I promised to test,

Then I’ll damn my soul forever,

To put her nightmares to rest.
