This document discusses three approaches to language instruction: content-based, task-based, and participatory. Content-based instruction focuses on using content like geography or science to teach language. Task-based instruction assigns students real-world tasks to complete and provides feedback. The participatory approach focuses on students' needs and problems, encouraging discussion of real-life topics and sharing of experiences to develop language skills. The document indicates that task-based and participatory approaches may be more beneficial for students by giving them responsibility and focusing on their opinions and needs.

CONTENT-BASED, TASK-BASED AND PARTICIPATORY APPROACH
1. What have you understood?
We learn that content-based, task based, and participatory approach. Firstly, content- based based on content in order to teach language. Language is used in a content such as geography, physics, biology, math. While the content is being learned, language is also learned but it is difficult to continue both content and language. Therefore ,teacher should help his/her students and provide a number of examples. This instruction gives importance four skills of language; reading, speaking, listening, and writing. There are three model of content – based instruction. They are immersion, adjust model and sheltered – language instruction. Secondly, we learned task – based instruction. It is based on task. Teacher gives information in task. Students have responsibility. Tasks should be related to real life and the teacher has to give feedback after task is accomplished. Lastly, participatory approach we learned. In this approach, teacher should focus on the problems of students ,their needs on real life because their own life is more important for them. Then on real life‘s subject the teacher encourage the students to discuss by asking questions. They can share their own experiences, opinions and solving way thanks to discussion. Furthermore, students may have interaction studying with their classmates. 2. What do you have difficulty in understanding? It is three model way of content – based instruction. 3. What do you need to study again? I studied all units in order to reinforce. 4. How can you imply what you have covered? I think task – based instruction and participatory approach are more beneficial for students than content – based instruction. Task – based instruction gives responsibility to the students so they feel themselves involved in process of learning. They don’t only sit on desks. Participatory approach focuses on students’ own needs and opinions so they will able to be willing to be on process of learning. I want to use both task – based instruction and participatory approach. ACTIVITIES 1. In CLT, the most important thing is that the students communicate with language 2 so speaking is used. However, in this-chapter all of skills of language are important. It is thought that communication can be developed by doing all of them. 2. Content – based instruction has been called “ a method with many faces” because I think to learn language depends on contents. The more contents there are , the more widely language is learned. It is about varieties of content.
