ABA Regional Affiliates Announce Boston Training Sessions

raining sessions for independent bookstores in Boston on Aug. 19-20.
Boston, MA, July 26, 2010 -- Three organizations representing independent bookse
llers throughout the Northeast and Southeast have announced training sessions fo
r members to be held in conjunction with the Great American Bargain Book Show at
the Hynes Convention Center in Boston on Aug. 19-20.
The organizations, all affiliates of the American Booksellers Association, are t
he New England Independent Booksellers Association (NEIBA), the New Atlantic Ind
ependent Booksellers Association (NAIBA) and the Southern Independent Bookseller
s Alliance (SIBA).
The session on Thursday (Aug. 19) is titled “Remainder Buying – Plain, Simple an
d Profitable.” Industry insiders will discuss how booksellers can sell more book
s and earn more money by adding remainders to their inventory. Retailers can gen
erally buy remainders for much less than conventional books and sell them at hig
her markups.
Training on Friday (Aug. 20) is titled “EESY CHIT – Easy, Effective Strategies Y
ou Can Happily Implement Today.” The session is being anchored by Karin Wilson,
owner of the Page & Palette, an independent bookstore with a long and successful
history of serving book lovers in Fairhope, Ala.
