Subject:- FIRST MEETING OF THE WORKING GROUP FOR

PREPARATION OF TENTH FIVE YEARS PEOPLE’S PLAN

(2010-15)

It was the first meeting of Working Group on the above

subject. I have attended the same as per direction of Chairman, P&D
Board. In that meeting, there was discussion on following issues:-
1. Less developed areas in the Province
It was pointed out by the participant and undersigned that 32
districts were included as less developed areas in the
province. Basis for inclusion of these district were not
identified. Moreover in case of Punjab, wait age of population
was not assigned.

Moreover only 8 districts were included among 101 districts

in the country. In case less developed areas of Punjab was
supposed to be assigned more wait age on the basis of
population.

2. Major key issues and policy for special areas

Undersigned pointed out that backwardness of Southern

Punjab may also be considered as major key issues in terms
of less infrastructure and income generating activities.

3. Nature of modifications

As it was the first meeting so there was no discussion on the

nature of medications and new initiatives to be taken.

4 TOR for working Group

These were agreed by participants. It was however indicated

that group members may share information on the website
and email which may be conveyed by P&D Division to each
member alongwith copy of the minutes of above meeting.

5. Next schedule

It was also informed that November 15, 2009 is the date of

submission of report of this working group which may be of
about 15 to 20 pages It was decided that second meeting of
the group will be convened on November 2, 2009 at 11:00
a.m.
 Planning & Development Division asked for sending copy of
MICS report 2007-08. Today undersigned attended Bureau of
Statistics office and report has been sent along with soft
copy by Bureau of Statistics today.
