Career Exploration
Criminologist

Introduction:

Career Exploration is a valuable task starting in middle school.

Exploring careers early in my academic years can help guide me
towards a career field where both my interest and skills match. As a
result of my research, I will answer the following questions regarding
my first exploration into careers: what is the job description of a
Criminologist and what are the educational/training requirements what
SCANS skills are necessary for success in this career, what salary could a
person expect and what is the future outlook? Finally, who is a person
this field and what education/training did they acquire and what
important successes has this individual achieved.

What is the job description of a criminologist and

what are the educational/training requirements?

Being a criminologist is not a game at times.

When it comes to being a criminologist, you need to have many skills
for this job. You’ll need to have a Ma or PhD degree in the fields of
criminology like forensics, science, or sociology. Graduate schools are
available with Bachelor and Master Degrees, but they are limited
because of way to much paper work. Graduate schools will eventually
offer criminal justice administration degrees equivalent to a MBA
(masters in business administration degree). Criminologists don’t work
with the police all the time. Criminologists seek answers to questions
such as:

What factors contribute to violence against police, What do serial killers

tend to have in common, and what are the long term affects of crime
on that person.
